ALQO WASI is a company which currently works with workshops composed by women from the regions of Puno and Lima. These women with low resources, experts in the technique of weaving in handlooms, hand knitting and hand embroidered, come from vulnerable and marginal zones.

Through constant training, these women develop their skills in order to become more productive and competitive in the labour market. In this sense, ALQO WASI gives them the opportunity to develop their creative capabilities through the elaboration of exclusive pet and human products making these women feel more confident in themselves and most important: revaluing the position of women and the important role they carry for the progress of their homes and community.

Alqo Wasi is committed to the environment by using sustainable, eco-friendly resources as the Alpaca and Peruvian cotton. All raw materials come from the Andean regions of Peru, emphasizing our responsibility to prevent the damage of nature.

Product composition

50% Alpaca, 45 % Acrylic, 5% Wool.

Shadings and variations are common in handmade products.

Garment Care

1. Gently wash in warm water with a mild soap or shampoo and thoroughly rinse in water of the same temperature. Special care must be taken as wet alpaca fabric can weaken and stretch out of shape. Never wring or twist. Gently press excess water from the garment.

2. Lay it on a dry towel. Ease the garment back into shape and roll up in the towel. Press to remove excess water and repeat this step with a second towel.

3. Lay the sweater flat to dry on a fresh, dry towel, until thoroughly air-dried.

4. Never hang an alpaca sweater as it will stretch the garment out of shape. Lay flat in a drawer or on a shelf.

If stains persist: Dry cleaning may be the only solution.

We do not recommend machine washing. In the event you decide to use washing machine please secure the garment in a tied pillowcase and set on gentle cycle; cool water. Do not tumble dry.
